| | | On to Cambodia! | | | | | Heys guys and gals
Its been a while since we updated so this could be a long one!! After Hanoi we spent a night in Hoi An, which was really nice. It was boiling hot so we went to the beach! Also did some shopping and looked around the temples etc.
After that we flew business class to Ho Chi Minh city (In true backpacker style we ate loads of the free food and stole stuff for the next few days!)in order to get there in time for Garys birthday. Had a lovely day on Garys b-day - lots of shopping drinking and eating western food!
The following day we went round the palace and the war museum which were both really interesting, but very upsetting. The day after we went to the Cu Chi tunnels (important site in the war) but it was a bit tacky really!
We then left HCMC for the mekong delta on a 3 day tour which finished in Phnom Penn (capital of Cambodia). The tour was lovely - the scenery was amazing and we got a real insight into life on the river. The border crossing went fine but it was a long days travel on various boats and buses!
Stayed in a really nice place in Phnom Penn with a lovely bar area - hammocks and comfy chairs and a lovely lakeside view (not to mention very cheap drinks!). In Phnom Penn we did the Palace (very pretty) and the Killing Fields and old Security Prison (really not so pretty!).
This morning we got the bus to Seim Reap and we are off to see Angkor Watt tomorrow which should be amazing! After that it'll be the beaches of Thailand - I have some serious strap marks I need to sort out!!
Stay in touch, miss you all, Tessa and Gary x
