To me, one of the most striking elements of country-difference I like to notice when I travel is nature. I'm not talking about Nature, or about the exploration of natural parks and reserves. I'm talking about the everyday nature you see in city parks, the one people tend to forget when they live too long in the same place.
On Phillip Island it is as striking as in Melbourne. Trees are different, and give the landscape a sense of wild dryness, thanks to the gum trees, the reddish earth and all these bushed, flowers and plants so strikingly different. Then you have the birds: colorful parrots and cockatoo-looking birds shining of bright green or pink colors. Tall and graceful sea birds, black and white crow-like birds... Even their songs sing a different place...
It's nice to feel you are in a very different place...
