The Ashington weather curse strikes again!

The main reason for stopping here is to catch the train that goes South. It´s supposedly a spectacular journey down a series of switchbacks and you can ride on the roof. I say supposedly because we´ll never know. The English owner of the hostal we stayed in, in Banos, told us that, for the past 4 weeks, there had been a problem with the track and the train was only running for a few miles. We confirmed this at the station on arrival here. Oh well, never mind!
Just to add to the disappointment - the bus journey here is also very spectacular. The road passes within a few miles of Chimborazo, affording great views of Ecuador´s highest mountain. Well it would if the cloud was HIGHER than the mountain!!!

Next entry: No more chicken .......
