I've bought my ticket and I'm ready to head down to Peru. It has been one little adventure after the next. It sounds like I will cross the border around 2am. Nothing but adventures to be had...
I've spent the last couple of days in Vilcabamba. It is a little town in the southern part of Ecuador, and it is said that it is the valley of youth. There are at least a dozen people here over the age of 100, and I think that the oldest guy now is 125. They don't know whether it is the water, the climate, or the lifestyle. But, anyway this seems to be a place to extend your life. And I have to admit, that I don't swear anymore, I've stopped grinding my teeth, and I have no reason to be upset. So tranquil!
I have spent the time here hiking, horseback riding, sitting in a spa with a veiw of the mountains, and talking with a 63 year old american. The hiking and horseback riding were amazing. The town is beautiful and tiny, and the views from every location are breathtaking. So, as you come up from the town into the foothills, it just gets better. The landscape is wonderful, and I was hanging out with my german friend and speaking spanish. Perfect. But now she has left and there is a guy in the hostal who has done most everything and wants to tell you about it. People are so strange. But, he has pinpointed my issues, has lived a lot, and has a lot of advice to give. I never thought that I would be the person that people would want to give a bunch of advice to. I also never thought that I could sit for five hours letting someone talk at me... all the way through an afternoon hot chocolate through dinner. But, you just never know what you are going to run into, and what you are going to learn from it.
I will spend my day getting laundry done, seeing the American's property here, buying my ticket to peru, and eating. I eat a lot. It is a tough life!
lots of love to home... (and I will load some pictures when I get to a bigger town!)
