Australian Citizenship Ceremony

I was able to attend the West Wollongong Rotary meeting this week for the Australian Citizenship Ceremony in which immigrants to Australia take their final oath to become Australian citizens. It was the 9th year the West Wollongong Rotary has hosted this event for the new Australians and their families. It was a very personal and welcoming way for the new citizens to become Aussies. I did get asked a few times if I wanted to join in with the group when they were making their pledge of commitment to Australia but I declined. The Lord Mayor of Wollongong, Mr. Alex Darling, was at the ceremony administering the pledge of commitment.
