So today, Lisbed had to pop over the boarder to Tulcán to collect my paperwork that my lawyer had sent up on a bus- I can´t cross the boarder until my visa is sorted. So basically, I´ll get it all sorted 2moro, then will just have to register in Quito an get an ID card- how cool is that?! I also get sparkly stickers in my passport...
Claire ws all sorted so went bak to Quito whilst Lisbed an I r still in Ipiales an went to the Santuario de Las Lajas, which is one of the most beautiful churches I hav ever seen in my entire life! It´s one of the 7 wonders of Colombia an with reason!! Claire certainly missed out on not seein it. It´s a neogothic church built in the 40s I think between two cliff faces an a river below. It ws built because in 1750s, a young girl an her mother were travellin from Potosi to Ipiales on that route and the Virgin Mary holding Jesus an two of the apostles appeared to them. "¡Mamita, la mestiza me llama!" cried the little girl which roughly means Mummy, the mixed race lady is callin me (doesnt´t sound so good in English!) It´s just incredible, this church, u hav to see it to believe it!! There´s a museum underneath which houses photos of the construction an also artefacts from the Pre-Colombian indigenous culture there. The main church is amazin an we collected water from the springs so that Lisbed could get it blessed an she also lit a candle for her family.
Then finally got my Colombian doll for the collection bak home- a must of course. Couldnt find any T-shirts sayin Colombia but there were bags so it´s all good.
Not too cold today thank goodness, ws DYIN of cold yesterday. Went to bed at 5pm an just ate cake an watched films... not that am complainin, as ws heavenly to do so!!
So will b bak in Quito 2moro at some point an then on to Tena on Fri. Iván´s takin us into the jungle for Sat, Sun an Mon, which should b good.
