2007-02-26, San Carlos, Mexico

Februray 22, 2007

We went to the dunes, located on one of the nearby islands, to do a mortality walk. A mortality walk is where one goes looking for dead turtles/remains. We found a few painted (indicating that they were previously recorded) shells and a couple dolphins, but only one unmarked turtle carapace. This information generates many unanswered questions about the turtle population such as, are less turtles dying, or are they simply dying other places?
