Well hello!! Ok so I have all the pictures up loaded and I have made this trip even easier because over the course of the weekend we were actually in three different cities. So, I made a separate journal for each city. But our hotel was in Caceres. We arrived to Caceres on Friday early afternoon at which time we unpacked and checked out the hotel, it was very pretty by the way, the pictures do not do it justice. Then a couple of us took a little walk and stopped by an internet cafe at which time it started absolutely pouring, even thundering and lightning. From the students who were here last semester, this was the first time they had heard it thunder. So we headed back to the hotel and hung out hoping the rain would stop for our tour of the town. At first we thought we were going to have to cancel the tour because of the rain but it stopped and we were able to go. It was very neat to see everything but it had already gotten dark which made things a little difficult. But the just of Caceres and Extremadura in general is that it is home to many of the conquistadors. All three of the towns we visited were in Extremadura, which is equivalent to a state in the US. And Extremadura is well known for the military there and many of the conquistadors such as Cortez and Pizarro are from. Cortez conquered Mexico and Pizarro conquered Peru. There is also a big University in Caceres so there are a lot of students there. Friday night we all ended up getting pizza at Telepizza, which is like one of the chains in the US. The pizza was very good. In fact so good that we ordered in from there on Saturday night. Other than that nothing too exciting in Caceres the rest of the time we spent elsewhere and I am going to post in those journals now!
