Where to start . . . alright, so I left Sihanoukville yesterday and made the short trip to Kampot. I had planned on volunteering at a school in Sihanoukville, but after the first day it became clear that they really didn't know what to do with me, and they had never had anyone volunteer before so I completely understand. But Sihanoukville was fun, I met a British guy and we rented bikes and sped around town for a day; the beaches there are great. We also ate at this really tasty place everyday and got to know the locals who worked there. They always had EPL football (soccer) on the TV and when one of the younger guys noticed we were watching, he invited us to play with his team the following day. So the next day all three of us jumped on his scooter (not uncommon for locals, but a bit different for Stu and I) and buzzed down to their field. It was basically a sand pit, but it was flat and the goals had nets. We got to play sandels and all, and the local guys (maybe about 45) were very friendly and polite - not quite what I'm used to coming from playing in the states. So, now I'm in Kampot and I really like the place. It's smaller, quieter and more family oriented (i.e. - the sex/drug scene isn't in your face). There aren't too many tours, but it sounds like there are lots of volunteer options around. I've got a meeting today with a Cambodian man from a language school and hopefully I'll be able to help out there. That's it for now, I'll be sure to update you all in a day or two. Cheers - taner
