Hey guys and gals,
Have recently started our tour of china and have met some really fascinating people. Although we have had a number of days extra in Beijing (compared to everyone else on the tour), we had 2 more days to fill before we departed for the Great Wall.
We had a guided tour round the forbidden city - Kevin (our guide) spoke excellent english and was extremely knowledgable and after a night seeing the sights and sounds of Beijing by night, we spent a lazy day recovering and eating junk food.
We departed for the Great wall early on monday morning and spent the rest of the day walking 10km along it. It was so amazing, so beautiful and peaceful but extremely tiring. From the wall Tessa and a girl (Nina) on our tour had a bananna skin throwing competition, where Nina managed to throw it over her head and back onto the wall - it was hilarious.
That night we stayed in a more traditional chinese guesthouse and got up early the next day to watch the sun rise over the hills. Around midday we departed our guesthouse and returned to Beijing where we got our overnight train to our present location of Xian.
We have only been in Xian a day but from the first impressions it seems like a more traditional chinese city to Beijing and the people seem alot more friendly.
We will keep you informed as to how the tour goes in the coming weeks and will upload some photos when we find some appropriate/good enough ones.
Take care and stay in touch
Gary & Tessa xxx
