Okay, you knew this was coming, eh?

We're at the medical clinic and there is a honda XL 200.. which is the same bike that I (eh-um) wrecked on but with an electric start. But.. it has a flat tire. I am told that I can use it while I'm there.. but there is this flat tire.. and in a place where it is impossible to get a latte (in fact, they have never heard of them), there is exactly zero chance that I will get a tube for this tire. Don't bother to argue with me that I have actually never changed a tire either.. the subject never went that far to begin with. So.. XL, staring me in the face of profound boredom the last 2 days of my time there.. calling out to me like sheer to a sheep and at the point of not taking it any more! I got up my guts enough to ask Douglas (from Suni Solar) to ask this guy Oscar (who I didn't meet for more than a minute of my time there) if I could borrow HIS XL.

Next thing you know I'm zooming down the road in absolute freedom and glee.. dirt roads galore. Nothing too fancy or too hard.. just perfect for my first time being back on the dirt since breaking my leg. Fun, fun, fun!! Douglas had never ridden a motorcycle before, so I came back for him to hop on back. We took off toward the river and I finagled us down some steeper and harder hills... and THEN.. then we started down a very short, but steep hill with big, loose rocks covering it, potholes between the rocks, and 2 foot ditches on either side of that. Now.. for those of you who know what I have been capable of in the past.. I will tell you.. this was cheese. It was stuff that I would normally do on my second day of riding ever and that my boyfriend would pass over as if it were just a blemish on the rump of a pig, and he a flea on a sunday drive. But I will also tell you.. that I turned around. The zorro in me deflated, with understanding that perhaps I still need some mental healing time around my accident.

But then off to the dirt again!! We went through town, to the other side.. I hopped off and gave Douglas a lesson and he has come away from Mulukuku with the vow that he to will have a motorcycle!

So, Viva La Motorcycla-rita!!
