Update in Italy...

A bit of a blog of life in Italy at the moment as i have a bit of spare time, i still need to right up some past tales but as the Vodaphone advert in italy goes... Life is Now!! what ever that means! First thing that must be commented on is that it is the Superbowl next week... Go Bears! for weeks and weeks, i have spent my Sundays working and watching Amercian Football, serving American food and beer pitchers... it hasn't been all that bad, NFL is not as bad as first thought and generally most games have a nail biting end! At Astor from the very beginning adopted the Chicago Bears as our team, mainly due to laughing at the over passionate bears fans in Astor, it is hilarious that they have randomly made it to the Superbowl, but it makes it more entertaining for us, god knows what it is going to be like working next Sunday!

Going on from that i just have to report on a guy who came into Astor a few weeks... he was probably one of the biggest wankers i have ever met... obviously he was american, he went on and on and on about how he had created this business and done this and that, in some ways it was hilarious and in some ways it was so sad! but when he got on to the conversation of women i just had to walk away... he went on about how women are like cars... you just have to trade them in some times for a better model... it's called the BBD (Bigger Better Deal)... WANKER!

In general i'm working quiet a lot, 12 hours a day Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun but it is good fun, good banter and good laughs, it has been a slightly annoying week as the staff have been banned from doing shots while working... mainly due to me but i'm not takign all the blame!

The reason being last Tuesday i was in Astor getting my free lunch... well Apertivo's as we have a new chef and he makes a hell of a good buffet!

Earlier in the day i had bought a small american football and for the whole night everyone was throwing the ball around and generally pissing the bouncers off and as we were seen doing shots on the evening the owner as set a 10 euro fine if seen doing a shot while working... harsh! god knows how long this is going to last for!

Also went round the Uffizi last week as it was pissing down with rain... did it with a slight hangover (post American Football night) so by the 40th room i'd seen enough but all in all it is a good collection... the Bottocelli section is probably the highlight, the Uffizi also has some great views of the city which i had not read about before, you can see probably some of the best views of the Arno and Ponte Vecchio...

But in general my time in italy is coming to an end... what are my plans now... well, contract on job ends 31st of Feb, contract in house finishes on 18th March! after that i think it is an inter-rail session round italy for 3 weeks, gonna try and get some sking involved, gonna return to England for a few weeks after that, try and do a road trip of the Uk, before flying off to India 1st May, not that i have booked the tickets yet, then arrive in Aus circa mid June... funny that i thought i would always be in summer weather but ended up following the winter... not that i would call the italian weather winterish!

Next entry: Digger and Skigay two week bender!!
