I think I've found myself a family. Yes, I did just write about the Johnson house as an wonderfully welcoming community, and I've found a niche in CONCH but the family I am speaking of is Jeba's family. The lovely nurse who I've spent a bunch of time with both during the day and extracurricularly invited me to visit her family on Saturday after she finished work. Her mother was expecting us, and had lunch specially prepared. We had curd rice, coconut rice without the coconut milk (which, though she denied it, Jeba's mother makes it so well I didn't miss the coconut milk), sambar rice, chicken. For dessert we had paisum and gulab jamon. All of it was WONDERFUL! :) They have a lovely home, but more than that, they have a beautiful family. Annal Jeba--goes by Jeba--shared photos and stories from her youth. Her parents adore her (likewise--she's lively and fun and downright charming!)and they all recognize their family as a blessing from God. Jeba is their only child; after 6 years of trying, her mother shared that they had given up, but still prayed that if God would so choose it, they would have a child. Jeba is the answer to their prayers!
So, yesterday we spent the afternoon talking, laughing, sharing stories, I met her friends, we went to get some blouses for the saris I purchased stitched and I bought some bangles, had some more tastes of yummy Indian food and sweets and then I went home! Glorious! I will post pictures from that as well, later! Her parents were so gracious, they even gave me a gift of a silk shawl! How blessed am I! :) It was really nice to be with a family. If I feel homesick ever, that's the best remedy! :)
Peace to you all!
