Well, today I actually have a little time to write in this, probably because it's my day off, and there isn't too much sightseeing to do here in York. I just have to remember where I left off.

So we left Bath 3 days ago, and travelled about 5 hours north on the train to York. THis is the 2nd biggest city in England, but it's nothing compared to London. We arrived on Sunday night, had a yummy Italian dinner, then headed to an evening chruch service. This is the church where my prof. was an intern about 20 years ago. The service was very interesting to say the least. Definetly NOT what I'm used to, but a great experience none the less. Very charismatic, with dancing in the aisles and speaking in tongues. It was an experience, but I guess the services aren't normally like that, even the regular memebers told us that. The vicar (pastor) was not there, so it was a guest speaker with a strong message. After chruch we headed to a local pub, where people from the church hang out. We talked with them for a little while, which was fun to get some realy English perspectives on things. And all the buildings here are very old, so that just adds to the atmosphere.

On Monday, we had a walking tour of York with the prof. There have a Roman wall that we walked on, and various old streets that were fun to see. In the afternoon we went to York Minister, which is the Cathedral here. It's been one of my favorites! Very large, with white ceilings, and over 1/2 the medieval stained glass in Europe in it's windows. Under the church are ruins from a Roman and Anglo-Saxon (3-4 century) ruins of their cathedral. So It's really OLD :) We has a group meal in a pub, then went' to another pub to hangout for a while.

Tuesday was a day trip to Whitby. Whitby has abbey ruins from 5th century. It's also a cute little fishing village, with not much else to do. Unfortunely the Abbey was closed, but we still were able to walk around them and such. And it was beautiful and sunny, which mad e the day even better. After the Abbey, others had fish and chips (which I haven't had yet, and probably won't), then I put my toes in the North Sea. Very COLD! but definetly worth it :)

Today, Wednesday, was a day off. We actually slpet in for a little while, but then decided that we should do some studying. They have Starbucks here (of course), so we studied there and then went shopping. Most of the citie have H&M, my favorite store, so I've beeen stocking up on cool european clothes! But after today, I can't buy anything else, b/c I don't have any more room :( Now I@m at an internet/smoke/weird shop writing this. It's called the Evil Eye, and is really shady, but also fun :)

So I'm hacing a wonderful time, and won't be ready to come home, ever! But, next we're on to Scotland, which should be wonderful! Hoep you all are doing well!

Cheers!!

Next entry: Scotland, yes please
