Hola friends and family!
I am here sitting in an internet cafe with Eric Clapton playing in the background, it's almost as if I'm back at home....
My time in this heaven is almost at it's closing point. I had some interesting experiences and met some amazing people. I'm not sure where the time has gone and not entirely sure as to what this experience has done to me, but quite a lot of soul searching has went on along with many moments alone. I have filled about half of my journal, or so it seems. I am constantly writing...
I have been going to daily mediation/yoga/dance classes and it has been wonderful. I have spent time on the mother Ganga which supports one in 12 people in the WORLD! That's a fantastic statistic. I have met some incredible travelers and actually about half have been Americans which is something that I didn't expect. Us Americans don't seem to get out much, but each of them had an interesting story which is similar to my reasons for being here. It seems that westerners that come here are in search of a deeper meaning in life. Rather than the surface comforts and materialistic wants that seem to prevade in our consumer based nation. It is interesting to see the reactions that people give when they find out that I am from America, the 'dislike'is still all over the world. I get it from Indians as well as others. I cannot lie and say that I am from Canada because I am not Canadian; although, the thought has run through my mind more than once. I just hope that each individual that makes snap judgements about me due to my nationality can see past them and look at me, not the place that I came from.
I went to an Aruveydic doctor (which is sort of a holistic health doctor that gives au natural remedies), he took my pulse and checked three places in my arm and told me what ailments I have... it was incredible. Just by the touch of three fingers to my wrist he knew the problems that I have within my body.
I have been exploring Buddhism as well as Hinduism, and I am still in awe as to how spiritual the individuals that live in this area are. It is quite inspirational. Everyday, at my guest house which is also an ashram, the family of four gets up at 7am, they ring a bell and perform Puja (prayer) to the three deities that are sculpted into the wall (Shiva, Vishnu and Shiva's wife). The father rings the bell, the kids run around and the mother uses incense to cleanse the air around the sculptures she then kneels and prays. It is quite impressive. This process is again repeated at 7pm. It's what makes this place go around, amongst all of the chaos and noise, there is constant worship of a higher power. It's wonderful to observe.
So, tomorrow, I am off to Delhi. Mich is coming in!!!!!!!! YAYAYAY! I am very excited to have a companion and even more excited that it is Mich. So, here we go again!
Love to you all!!!! Thanks for reading!
