We left Pai at 10pm on Thursady night on the 11th Jan.We travelled in a shuttle bus and as usual me n Jan got our place at the back of the bus out the way.
We set off on our 6 hour drive to the the border but lucky me sat next to window the wouldnt shut qnd kept bloody sliding open; it was bloody freezing;so i tried loads of different ways of trying to keep it shut but in the end i had to settle for wedging my fingers in between the 2 windows to keep it shut, this actully worked for awhile, and we started to drift off then as usual over here the driver was driving like a mad man, we went over a bump and me and Jan cracked our heads together, cor that so woke us up.
We arrived at the border, but because of the speed of the driver, and the time that we left we arrived 3 hours before it was due to open. So we sat in a cold concreate room and waited. We got through passport control and crossed the river over to Loas.
We had been trying to get through to at activity centre called the gibbon experince but failed through bad internet connection, so we found the office and booked up our trip for the 20th . This give us 8 days to waste, the woman in the office said we were better heading up north, the nearest village a 5 hour bus drive away.
After a quick bite to eat of noodle soup for a change, (i quiet like it but i jans gettin fed up with the lack of choice) We set off on the next bus, this one was a old large bus very worn down looking, loaded up to the max with furniture and bags on the roof and bags of rice inside. Put it this way i had to wedge one of the big bags of rice that the bus was carrying under my seat, and sit on mine and Jans jumpers to stop me falling through he seat it was funny.
The road that we were travelling on wasnt even really built yet, it was so dusty and really bumpy we had to laugh. This wnet on for 6 hours or so and we were both really nakered when we finally arrived.
We got off the bus at about 6pm the next day after about 20 hours of travelling, we had arived at this really dusty looking little town , slap bag in the middle of no where but we didnt care, we got a room for afew quid more than usual, had a HOT shower and slept for England in comfort. This was a day we were glad was over.
