I woke up 11:00 am, finished packing then watched Canada kick ass against the Russians in the World Junior finals, what a great way to start the day. So anyways, Chris Dart and I left the Toronto airport at 5:50 pm on Friday night and headed for Amsterdam. We arrived at 7:25 am (Amsterdam time)Saturday morning and roamed around the airport for a while. Then we decided to take a quick trip into the downtown of Amsterdam...
We got off the train and had a quick continental breakfast. Apparently the stories of this city are true... once we left the restaurant a man asked us if we wanted to buy some hash, then another guy asked us if we wanted coke, and finally a man came up to us and simply said, "ecstacy?" So we made a huge concoction of drugs and got really high and messed up (kidding obviously). This was all at 8:00 am.
For the next couple hours we walked a big loop around the city then we decided the next logical step was to take the Heineken Experience. We paid the 10 Euros and took a tour through the old Heineken brewery. Gerard Heineken, at the ripe young age of 22, started this brewery in 1864, what an inspiration. I definitley recommend it, you also recieve three beers and a gift at the end of the tour.
So now, a little woozy, we headed back to the airport and caught our final flight to Bergen, Norway. We arrived in Bergen at 5:00 pm and met up with 6 other exchange students from Belgium, France, Switzerland and Poland. We checked into our residences and then headed down to the campus bar for an exchange party at 8:00 pm. Here I met tons of people from all over the world; however, around 11:00 pm for some strange reason I began to feel a little bit tired. By 12:30 am I was in my new residence room fast asleep, what a crazy 30 hours.
