Where do i start, what a great 2 days these were, packed full of activites and adventure from start to finish. We were picked up at 8.30 and crammed into the back of a truck,we travelled for about 1 and a half hours. When we arrived, We got out the truck to see about 5 or 6 beautiful Elephants being washed and feeding, well our eyes lit up!
We trekked round on the back of an elephant for an hour or so taking it in turns to ride on the neck of the big fella. It was slightly uncomftable at first but a great feeling. We must of got abit of a fat boy because all ours wanted to do was eat the bananas that we had every 2 steps, and it kept blowing it`s bad breath at us when it wanted another 1.
After the Elephant riding we had to cross the local river in a cage on a pully system, that was good fun. We sat down and got to know our group and had lunch for half hour or so before setting off on a 3 hour trek.
The trek was through the middle of the jungle, but felt more like a jungle than the 1 we spent 3 days in, in Borneo, mainly because of how over grown everything was, and the sights that we were seeing on the way up that were amazing. It was mainly up hill, and was really steep in some parts so we were relly glad to get the the local Lahu tribal village.
We had another freezing cold shower(story of our lives at the minute) then enjoyed some cold beers, talked, watched the beautiful sunset, sat round outside under the stars, had some more beers and enjoyed a really nice thai curry. some of the local kids sang some Thai songs ,which we repayed them with some loose change and some sweets and crisps. After that our guide who`s nick name was `good` then played the guide til the early hours. We tried to sing songs and had a laugh.
The next day we had breakfast and set off on the trek back ,but this time is was mainly all down hill so was more more enjoyable than going up. After about an hour we arrived at a waterfall where we all stripped down to our swimming gear for a dip. The waterfall was really beautiful and the water was bloody freezing, but really great fun, especially holding Jan under it til she started to go blue!
We then continued our trek for about another hour, til we got to the white water rafting. This was a good laugh all going down the rapids and splashing each other with our paddles when we got close enough. One german guy fell it twice and that that funny to see! Coz it wasn`t us haha!
We got out of the white water rafts and stepped onto a bamboo raft, which was more like a bamboo submarine as there were semi submerged in the water. The Elephants cross the river a little bit furher up so every now and again we would see and big poo float by!Nice!
We finished the day by having some noodles ,surprise, surprise then we travelled back in the truck again. This was a reallly good couple of days that we thoroughly enjoyed!
