So, Sofia Bulgaria was the first stop on our trip into Bulgaria, but we ended up just staying there the whole time. The "Hostel Mostel" was our residence of choice, and it was a great one! It was pretty cold, not a lot of snow, and a lot of cool architecture. We met some really cool people from around Europe, and managed to do the sightseeing as well as hit up a few local places. It's wierd being in a place where you don't even recognize the alphabet, or anything about the language, but you still manage to get along just fine. I had braced myself for a somewhat sketchy situation in Sofia, but it was a pretty nice city. The food was good, not as much as Greece, but nothing to complain about! And the sounds of street performers were an added bonus for sure. Everything in Bulgaria is SO CHEAP, it's crazy. We had lunch at this one place- a "small" pizza each, and a 500ml beer (because it was cheaper than water) cost all of 4lev.... about $3 american. Crazy. But I'm back in Istanbul now... it's good to be "home".... and I'm off to America in 2 short weeks!!!
