Happy New Year everyone. By now I presume you are all back to work with a smile on your face!

My last diary entry left you in Alice Springs. Well from there I took a flight to Cairns and was greated by a tropical rain storm. Why did I not know that It is the wet season? I only had one night in Cairns due to catching my bus the next day so I did as much sight seeing as possible then hit the sack.

I took a trip into a rain forest and got to see massive spiders and frogs but still no snakes yet.

My next stop was Magnetic Island. It is a beautiful place, bright blue oceans and golden sand. Only one draw back is that this time of year there are deadly jelly fish in the ocean so you cant go in the sea with out a stinger suit. Luckily my hostel had a swimming pool!

The hostel I stayed at was the party place on the island and little did I know that on New Years eve, nearly 3 thousand people had been invited for the full moon party along with a DJ from ministry of sound. JOY! I felt about 40 yrs old and my dorm was right next door to the speakers. Well if you cant beat them join em, so I did. The party didnt finish until 8am and I was there at the end. (Ok I went to bed at 12.00 but was up for breakfast when it ended!)

My next stop was Airlie Beach where I stayed with my mums cousin Pat. Her son Richy and his wife had a little baby boy today named Jack.

I have just returned to her house after a Sailing trip for 2 days and 2 nights around the whitsunday islands. I had the best time. I still feel as though I am on the boat. It is a very strange feeling!

I met up with 3 girls that I have travelled down the caost with and we enjoyed the whitest beaches the bluest oceans and maximum tanage because of the breeze from the boat. I even went snorkling on the barrier reef. Everyone that knows me knows that I have a terrible fear of water over my head but thanks to my swimming lessons I got in there and did it. I seen so many beautiful fishys, turtles even sharks. (OK thats where I made a sharp exit out of the sea. Even if they were basking sharks). The Coral is just stunning. I am so excited I have done it.

I cant believe that 2 weeks today I will be home. Time is going too quickly now. Love to you all. NickXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
