What is paradise? A beautiful beach, white sand, incredible sunsets, palmtrees, little hut overlooking the beach, blue lagoons?
BUT most of all SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cause I have just been realizing the past days, since I actually got here that without sun, paradise is far away.....:-)
Yep, my tropical experience has not turned out exactly as planned...Fiji has encountered a cyclon, Cook a tropical storm for the past 4 days...it could get worse though at least we escaped the hurricane!!!
Now I'm not sure whether you realise what you're options are on a 32 km round island when it's pooring rain and you do not really enjoy a 4 star resort budget? Aswer 1; read (done! 3 books in 3 days....) Aswer 2; eat...the kitchen is not quite the place you wanna be in here! Aswer 3; get on the moped/scooter which everyone hires to get around and circle the place 5 times a day, done! Aswer 4; After being soked, enjoy a cold shower cause there's no hot water. Aswer 5; Wait with other 30 guys for a 5 min rain stop to have a look at the beach. Aswer 6; You so fed up of waiting, you just go swimming in the storm. Answer 7; Enjoy a day and evening of total power cut, got another pasta night awaiting me :-)but with cadle night, very romantic. Aswer 8; you realise how spoilt you've been in the NZ lodges, back to basics Asian stuyle ;-)
WELL, that's sums it up:-) but besides that I'm actually enjoying my time, maybe cause I know I still have 15 days left and bound to see some sunshine?????????? I'm by the way leaving tomorrow to the other main island about 1 hour flying - Aitutaki, the most beautiful lagoon in the world and its suppose to be better whether over there....But the psoitive thing is that you get to meet a lot of people all in despair of sunshine, well clouds will do as well as it just stops pooring down...we go out in the evenings alltogether...till midnight, yep, british atmosphere is hanging around ;-) Those who know me well sort of imagine how pissed off I would get with this rain, but to be honoust I'm laughing with it...how ironic...bragging to you guys how wonderfull it's going to be and here I am stuck in the middle of the pacific while you are enjoying 20 degrees back home;-)
I guess things are not always as expected, look at my last days in Auckland....I met with my cousin Sue for dinner and we had a great night, unfortunately I was leaving before the WE otherwise she would have shown me around. Then my last day I just returned from another Osteopath session, ready to pack my backs and look at CNN to catch up whether that bloody war has finally started or not when I;m suddenly invited by my roommate, an indian-Greek guy, yes well you better guess he looked more greek than Indian ;-)to check out the restaurant where he was starting to work the next day. He was cordially invited by the Chef. I thought he would take me to the nearby bistro, but nope, I had the second best meal ever in NZ in a poshy but very cosy place owned by an Italian-Belgian guy....the world's a small place. Well it was a perfect closure before leaving this enchanting country.
well, got to go, I dont know if I'll get back to you before Sidney....but time is certainly flying byrain or not!
If I cant get to you on time, Dominik I wish you a great 31st birthday, we'll catch up when I'm back....
Big big hug to my adorable e-mail writers Laura & William and all of you off course ;-) Scorb
