Old Haunts
On Monday my Mum and I went to our favourite shop - Michaels, a craft store. However, it wasn't quite as good as we remembered it. They used to have loads of miniature things for doll's houses but were fun by themselves but they didn't anymore. Was a bit disappointed.
Later on we took Caroline out for pizza and went to see 'Borat'. We laughed all the way through, three Brits surrounded by all these quiet Americans who seemed very tentative about laughing at any of it. It is a terrible, silly film but some of the things he comes out with are so unexpected that you can't help but laugh.
On Tuesday, we left Carolines and began our journey south. We stopped for the night in Monterey. The motel we were staying in had a hottub, so we thought we'd go in it. But Ma didn't have a swimming costume with her. So we drove all over town and went to all these shops to find one but none of them had any as they were out of season! So no one needs a swimsuit in November??? Ended up giving up and going to Borders (Number 5) to get a map of California so we knew where we were going. Not sure how we had got this far without one, but hey. We ate dinner in this horrible restaurant with screaming children and yucky food. When I ordered my food, the waitress actually said, "Oh I wouldn't have that if I were you. It's not very nice. Have this other dish instead."
I'm sure they're not supposed to say that. Well, I ignored her and had it anyway, but she was right, it was horrible.
