It’s funny how Haiti is beginning to feel more and more like home everyday. I sometimes worry how I’m going to feel when I’m back in Canada. Will I ever feel like I fit in again? I don’t know.
I just went into the kitchen to get a glass of water when I saw a huge cockroach on the floor! I then looked up to the window and noticed at least 15 more crawling around trying to find a way in! EEWW!
This week has been fantastic! Sunday night we went to see the choir sing at a church in Sourcematelas and let me tell you our church choir is freaking amazing! Man they blew my socks off! I’m officially joining the choir...
I have Friday off which is quite exciting. Dana and I are planning on doing some Christmas shopping in town. It should be a fun day as long as we still have the go ahead. There have been some rumblings that it’s not very safe these days. There was a prison break this week and kidnappings are apparently on the rise (but aren’t they always?). Tis the season to be jolly right? There have actually been a few scares recently: water truck came back today with a bullet hole and the toyota is no more since it rolled down the side of a hill trying to avoid a gun. I’m not naive to the dangers, but I’m not going to put my life on hold either, there are fools with guns in every country.
Anyway, this was a very random update. Life is good, actually it’s great! I should be getting my residency papers next week which is entirely exciting!! Christmas is just around the corner, my cold is on the outs, I have Friday off, the weather is amazing; the glass beside me is very much half full!
By the way, I killed the cockroach...it was HUGE!
peace, love and death to all cockroaches!
