well yes - the US virgin islands are beautiful. But for those who do not make it past a cruise ship stop in St. Thomas, the best of the islands are undiscovered.
A short ferry ride and roller coaster taxi spin away from St. Thomas lies the jewel of the USVI. 2/3rds of the island is national forest preservation land - St. John's has escaped some of the developments that encroach the other islands. there are beautiful white sand beaches all along north shore road - and they are virtally devoid of tourists. by all means, if this does not suit you then head on over to Trunk Bay where every other tourist flocks and you can try to eek out a spec of sand for yourself there.
no wonder Buffet and Chesney have written so many songs about this place.
