We wanted to chill after all the trekking we did lately. Trekking in the jungle is realy addictive, we can't get enough of so much splendid nature around us with thousand different shades of green. But our body wanted to rest, so we went to the beach at Las Lagas. It has some cabañas at the seafront, we reserved one, but upon arriving we were put in a concrete dirty place in the back. It appeared the the whole place was run by some unmotivated disorganized kids. They didn't clean (dirty toiletpaper al over the place), didn't bring the ordered food (so we were getting very hungry), double booked, a wasp nest in the shower, and the bill in the end was a big question (the method of adding the amounts was a new mathematic trick I suppose). It was a pitty, because this place realy had potential! We enjoyed ourselves a lot anyway (especially when we got the cabaña) with bodysurfing, swimming, watching the pelikans, reading and meeting up with some nice a-typical americans (Karen, Fred and Bob, some interesting "ex-hippes" with the same philosopies and Brad, a funny dreamy guy). The only other trouble in paradise was the presence of american soldiers (just like Costa Rica, Panama doesn't have an army) driving in jeeps on the beach, or flying over real low with helicopters without lights. The president had just declared the darien-gap (at the border with Columbia) a war-zone, because of some incidents at the border. And the americans were there to help (in their own interest ofcourse, the Panama canal shouldn't fall in the hands of rebels...) . But it was far away from this place
