Well I've whiled away the last couple of weeks here in Boston and it's been really good and relaxing. Europe couldn't feel further away. Arriving in the US I was struck with a sense of familiarity but things were different, bigger! (ie TV's, cars, fridges, shops).
I've been staying with a exchange student friend from my college days and watching American sports and DVD's on the biggest private TV I've ever seen has been the mainstay of my two weeks. And also, trying to find filming locations from one of my favourite movies, Good Will Hunting! If anyone is interested (don't worry, if you really don't care I won't be offended!), email me and I'll upload some photos...
These 2 weeks I've been to an NBA game and snuck into some awesome seats, went to Harvard University to try to soak in some academic vibe (required after so long without work or study) and got into the "trick or treat" Halloween feeling. Not as many trick or treaters as we expected so we all downed a lot of candy* in the early days of November. Went to the 'Halloween capital of the world' here in Massachusetts to check out some crazy costumes and I hit the town as Elvis that night. Weird feeling to see people dressed as Transformers, a McDonalds thickshake or a 9 foot monster standing around in a bar drinking beers and chatting casually...
Anyway the Big Apple, NYC, tomorrow. Very excited. San Fran after that and on 23 November I will be back in Australia and this crazy adventure will finally be all over. Another blog before then no doubt.

*(oh yeah, i turn into a language chameleon within a few days of hitting a foreign country, using foreign words like 'candy' and 'sidewalk' like I've been using them all my life... if I had another month here I'd be dropping my R's in the classic Boston accent... ie I'd Paak the Ca in Havard Yaad)
