Decided to go on mission to Lucca as had heard good things about it!
The place is beautiful, the city still sits completely inside it's original walls! amazing to see and walk around! Had not booked a B & B prior so took a little time sorting that out, dad particularily was not chuffed about it... i wasn't bothered really as this situation occured a few times on the inter-rail!
Anyway highlights of the city once again was it's architecture... the cathedrals and churches are amazing inside and out! One strange thing in the Cathedral or Duomo i should say... was the Holy Face of Lucca, one hell of an ugly thing to see but a very interesting story how it ended up in the city! Body burried for 7 centries, body ended up on Italian Shores, 2 untamed bulls pulled it on on Cart to the city of Lucca! Random!
One disappointing part of Lucca though is it's night life... it has none! NO bars to be seen, it was all resturants and cafes... which are not the best when you are looking to have a few beers! But persistency paid off in the end and a suitable destination was found... even if the music was a bit strange!
