As we have already been for a couple of days in Indonesia, it is time for our first journal entry !!! After having left Munich last tuesday we arrived kind of exhausted in Jakarta the day after. We used the first days in Jakarta for recovering and overcoming our jetlag and got acquainted with the hot climate. Beside shoppingmalls and a few ruined buildngs in colonian style there is not much to see in Jakarta... a city where noise, traffic and dirt drives the tourist - if there were any - out of the city. So did we!!! By a 9 hrs train trip - in Eksekutif-Class - we got to Yogjakarta, where ancient temples Borobodur and Prambanan waited for us to be explored. While Prambanan and the nearby volcano Merapi showed us its beauty during sunset, we were tired but overwhelmed by the beautiful scenery of sunrise over Borobudur. These two temples have cultural and religious significance for hinduist and buddhist people who have come for pilgramige. Tomorrow morning we will head further east to Mt.Doom where Frodo and Sam... oops, different story. ...it is Mt.Bromo, one of Indonesias most impressive volcanos. We will see.
