Hi

Yet another late update, but this thing is becoming a bit of a chore at the moment as I have lost the will to live. Goodbye cruel world!

Well it was almost goodbye when the town that was staying in - Hoi An, felt the severe effects of a storm that hit a town just 30km north killing many people (around 50 I think).

The first day there was great, a news channel said that the tornado was not going to hit the north coast of Vietnam, so I was enjoying the lovely shopping that they have here (more about that later) and I bumped into a few people that I had travelled with previously who introduced me to a bunch of Irish guys, the drinking began.

I woke up the next day hung over with the sound of gusts rattling the windows of the hotel, I looked outside the balcony to see that the tree lined street before me had seemed to be attacked by Edward Scissorhands and several trees had just been blown over, all around tiles had been blown of roofs and streets signs and other debri where flying around the street. the gusting rain was horrendous, making it impossible for anyone to go outside.

I thought to myself 'I can sit through this, my hotel is sturdy, I got cable TV, a book, a mini bar, I will just stay in for the day' - So I got into my room and the electricity got cut off. So I sat around doing nothing, bored of my face, nothing to eat apart from the complimentry biscuits and emptying the minibar.

The roof started to leak outside my room, and the water started to seep into my room.

Anyway a couple of days later everything went back to normal, electricity, my sanity and sobriety were all restored. So I continued shopping. Then I bumped into the Irish guys and my sobriety was a thing of the past once again.

I love Vietnam, its the only place in the world where you can buy a kebab (with the meat of your choice, including dog - which I havent tried) and 3 glasses of beer for just 50p... bargain.

Hoi An is famous for the amount of tailors that can make you clothes at cheap prices when compared to buying the same clothes/workmanshio back in the UK, so I shopped till I couldn't carry anymore. The cobblers can even custom make you your own unique pair of trainers, and the tailors can copy virtualy any type of clothing in the same material just buy looking at a picture in a magazine.

So with my backpack full, I jumped on a bus and for the next 16 hours I travelled over 700km north to Hanoi. Where I am now, sitting in a internet cafe with a very sore bum!
