Life in a treehouse

It's official, I've totally fallen for Turkey... this place really has it all.

I write from Olympos where I've spent the last four nights living in a treehouse... I wake up in the morning and my bags are covered with sawdust from the tree (which is totally skewering the room) has shed overnight! A really chilled out place where I've met some really awesome people, I think travelling solo over the last three weeks I've met more cool people than on the previous four months combined. Turkey is just that kind of place.

I reached the treehouses after a 3 day Med cruise, where I was basically thinking only 'will I sleep or swim now?' Great food and company, docking at sleepy fishing villages and pirate cove bars, great experience.

Liz I loved Ephesus a couple of weeks ago but missed Pamukkale with some mixed reports re: negative impact of tourism on the pools over the last few years, some people have loved it but some have detested the degradation that has gone on. I jump into an overnight bus tonight for Goreme which is the Star Wars kind of place people are talking about... should be awesome but I definitely hope the force will be with me during the 10 hours of travel tonight from 9pm to 7am... Those double strength sleeping tabs might come in handy tonight, cheers Annie!

Considering a trip way out east over the next few days to a remote mountain called Nemrut, which is the site of huge fallen statues 2000 years old of an obsure king with an oversized ego and his favourite gods! The only problem being I would almost be in Syria... could be an adventure, we"ll see how it goes.

The only worry right now is will I catch the grand final on Saturday morning after arriving in Istanbul at 7am for the game at 8. I am having a few footy withdrawals having missed the entire season, so looking forward to it.

Take care everyone, enjoy the game on Saturday and I'm sure the improving weather (the exception prob being Brissie, sorry Mum and Dad)
