We railed from Vienna to Stuttgart, Germany with a stop in Munich. The view of the Alps from the train were breathtaking. We took an afternoon to rail up to Meinz and visit Dacau, the first concentration camp. A sobering experience, but very informative and educational to see.
We visited our friends in the lovely city of Stuttgart, Germany. Our days included a climb in the world's first TV tower, a tour of the Porsche factory, and walking around the downtown - even visiting an Aldi's (started in Germany) and an English food shop - it's funny to see the things they sell as delicacies that are everyday foods to us.
Finally, we railed up to Frankfurt to fly out, but not before stopping at the Guttenburg museum for Doug to get his fill of type collections and print.
We flew out to Heathrow, spent a manageable night there with our sleeping mats, then the next morning flew out (no liquid carryons now) to Chicago and then New York!
