¡Hola amigos!
For the moment I'm in La Paz in Bolivia with my boyfriend Gaël. We will travel together for about a month before he head back home to France. He came back from the Antarctica the 17th of January and I went from Buenos Aires to meet him in Puerto Williams (PW), Chile. ;o)
We stayed a few days in PW before sailing to Ushuaia. During this time one of the two remaining pure Yamana Indians died. There existed two sisters, Cristina and Ursula. I was visiting them a few weeks earlier, with some mate tea. I bought a replica of a Yamana canoe from Ursula. She was the sister that died. The sisters are a bit over 80 years old and live in the Indian village Villa Ukika outside PW. You can read more on
After a few days in PW and Ushuaia me and Gaël said goodbye to all our friends and left for Trelew in the middle of Argentina. From there we left directly to Esquel and a day later to Bariloche. Beautiful nature with a lot of mountains. In Buenos Aires I got the name of the judo trainer in Esquel. I didn't find him but found a judo club both in Esquel, Bariloche and later in La Rioja. But unfortunately all clubs are closed January and February as the schools are closed for summer holiday. So no training...
In La Rioja the heat hit us! We left for a small village called Villa Union west of La Rioja. Very hot but we manage to visit an amazig place called Talampaya. It's strange cliff formations and also have old Indian paintings on the rocks. See more on
We continued north to small villages. We visited Santa Maria and from there we went to the Quilmes ruins. Very interesting but it also gives thoughts about how much the Spanish people destroyed the culture that existed here. Later the same day we went to a very small village called El Banado who had a fiesta this day. The whole town (a few 100 people only) were there, plus us two… The fiesta included rodeo with some tuff guys riding wild horses and cows. The cowboys here are called gauchas.
The day after we went to Cafayate were we visited one of many wine yards. And had some wine tasting. Argentine wine are very good!!! Tried a few during my time in Argentina, especially red wines.
We are now in Bolivia, but I write more about that later. And hopefully my sister have developed some of my photos that I sent home until then…
