My too sents
Okay, so today is September 11th. I needed to rant and rave about a few things...I completely understand and will not take any offense if you disagree with anything that is said here. (such a serious disclaimer there!)
Now before you jump to conclusion, I am not going to state that September 11th shouldn't be taken seriously. I simply want to vent about what I see wrong with what has happened since that horrific day.
1st- We should mourn and remember not just those that perished in those buildings that day. That was a terrible tragedy. It is unforgivable, period. But what resulted from it? Our "leader" decided that a war was the answer.
Well, Iraq clearly had those Weapons of Mass Distraction, right? They found those inside a Chuck E Cheese in Abu Ghurayb, last I heard. So our "commander in chief" was justified, right? It's not like another country, say Korea (simply for arguement sake) had nuclear weapons that they were parading around and threatening us with.
Sorry for standing up on my soapbox (that I named Cynthia, by the way) and ranting. It's amazing to me how oblivious some people are to what is going on with our own country. I see all these "Support our troops" stickers. I completely agree with this statement. Support them...but do it by bringing them home to their loved ones.
I received one of those pro-america emails awhile back. It had pictures of a man's restaurant and the matinee sign he had in front of his place. On it was several messages that boiled down to how we should not keep letting foreigners in to our country. UMMM, sorry, but if foreigners weren't allowed into our country hundreds of years ago, then none of us would be here. I personally would be in Scotland, probably manning a "Find Nessie" both that sold foam fingers. (editors note: I love Scotland). My point is that our country used to be this huge melting pot, but so many "patriots" want to close the doors. Why?
I was going to post simply about my weekend (which was great. except my lame attempt at surfing. Who knew that walking on Coral was not a good idea?) I could not post a light hearted message about myself, especially on such a powerful day.
Remember not only those that lost their lives that day, but those that lost their lives since that day.
2669 US citizens have died in Iraq since that fateful day.
As tragic as that is...46,318 Iraqis have perished in the same time. That number is not all soldiers. That number includes babies, toddlers, children, teens, women and the elderly. It amazes me how a former coke head and drunk, a man who was never elected by the majority, can have that kind of power.
Never forget
