One half of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler BC is about a 2 hour drive from central Vancouver and has one of the most scenic routes in the Lower Mainland. It has actually been voted as the most romantic road in the world and makes a great roadtrip. Called Route 99 or the Sea to Sky highway, the road hugs the steep cliffs and reveals sweeping views of water and mountains. Sightseeing trains from Vancouver to Whistler charge a hefty price for such a short trip but it's quite worth it especially when you get to see sunset along the way.
