Since last report, we've hit another three Greek islands and there is no disappointment to be found. When they say a picture tells one thousand words I think they are talking about Greece, so I'll try not to bore anyone with wordy descriptions but try to upload some pics soon.
Island #1, Mykonos: Some amazing beaches, good nightlife. Good starting island where we met up with our old friend from Boston, last sighted in Australia circa 2000.
Island #2, Naxos: A big island, we hired 4 wheeled motorbikes and zipped all over the island, about 100km in one day. When we got off it felt like we had been riding a donkey all day! We were told not to head all the way south because if we broke down there would be no rescue possibilities. Needless to say we found ourselves on the south coast 30km from home when old faithful motorbike #1 dies. We leave it for a while hoping it will start again, and when we go to rescue it bike #2 dies. 2/3 bikes not working in the forbidden area and the day is looking a little shaky... miraculously they both came to life again and we got home, could have been a total disaster though...
Island #3, Ios: The famed party island lived up to it's reputation... some clubs don't get going until 5am, crazy. One of the best open-mike nights at a bar overlooking the beach ever, basically professionals stepping up time and time again (including a guy from Australian Idol a couple of years ago, Millsy).
Island #4, Santorini: The most beautiful place I have been on this trip. Unbelievable. Everyone has to get here at some stage. An old volcano with towns scattered on high cliffs surrounding a sunken centre. Highlights included donkey rides up a hill (these guys have personalities all of their own), jumping from rocks 3m above water from a church on an little island and the best sunset ever. Also some crazy scooter action here for three days too, but no casualties thankfully!
Well I said I wasn't gong to get too wordy but I guess Greece does that to you. Really fantastic place to which I'm sure I'll return. Photos soon.
Currently figuring out how to get to Turkey which I'm told is pretty sweet too.
Take care
Mick
