Day One:
We packed up the tent and headed down to the port in plenty of time to catch our noon fast ferry.
The trip was an hour long, we had seats and a TV!!!
We arrived in the small port of Sifnos with its towering cliffs either side and walked the short distance to our camp through the small beautiful port.
While walking we remembered that the rugby was on that afternoon and we put up the tent in record time.
This camp ground is GREAT! It has grass and cooking facilities but no pool. No major with the beach 10 mtrs away.
We walked back into port in search for a place to watch the All Blacks play. Finding a bar that would play it for us was pretty easy.
With time to spare before kick off, we used the net and sat on the beach.
Theres no need to go into detail on the All Blacks game, sad memories are best left alone!
After the rugby we bought dinner from the supermarket and went back to camp, had a shower, made dinner (Cabonarra pasta), drank beers and played cards.
Sifnos is an amazing island, the people are so friendly and the beaches we have seen are the best so far.
Day Two:
Up early, a quick phone call to wish the fathers a Happy Fathers Day.
Our original plan of making a collect call was foiled : ) as we couldnt get hold of the operator. So with a 4 euro call card equalling 4 mins there is no exageration saying the calls were quick (Sorry Dads, we will ring you in Italy).
After making a pack lunch, we hired a quad bike (fi) and a scooter (matt) for the bargain price of 17 euro for both!
Navigating our way around the island proved easy as there isnt many roads. We visited Vathi (a beautiful beach, meant to be the best in the Greek Islands), Platos Yalos (a peebly beach), then made our way to Charyssopigi (a small cove with a church on the edge of the ocean).
Last stop Kastro (a small fishing village) where Matt had a threesome with a wall and his scooter, no major carnage though, mainly bruised pride.
After a near miss on a one way bridge (which we wont go into, Matt yelling some explicit words at Fi). We arrived safely in one peice back in Kamares where we dropped the bikes back before our luck ran out!
We spent the afternoon sitting in a beach front bar, once again celebrating life! : ) Wonder what tomorrow has in stall for us.
