Day One:

The morning of our departure from Santorini camping was a very quick one.

Fi was very grumpy due to lack of sleep, and stones up her bum! She gave poor old Matt a bollocking for trying to be pro-active as he was preparing the tent to be dismantled.

Once the tent was put away and the bashing off Matt had finished we made our way to the port to jump on the ferry.

The ferry ride to Milos was a 2 hr trip and pretty rough, it was definetly too rough for a 6 yr old girl who threw up 2 seats in front of us. The stench was unbearable, we dont know what she had been eating, but we seriously considered having a word to her mother about her diet. But as the mother couldnt speak english we decided to move to the back of the boat thank god there were spare seats.

On arrival in Milos we made a sift exit from the ferry by passing the pension rabble (locals with rooms to rent) and bee lined it for the camping bus.

With 20 mins to spare we entered the information centre to gather some info, this proved very hard as the girl behind the counter couldnt speak english very well, and she seemed to be more interested in what was on her computer screen (our thoughts dating agency website).

Discovering that we had to come back at 8pm to book a boat trip, we headed off to our campsite.

Chosing the site to pitch our tent seemed pretty obvious. The one with the best view! and very sheltered!!!

Pitching the tent on the other hand proved to be more of a mission. WE have come to the conclusion that tent sites in Greece are all stone and stone is very poos!!!

Once the tent was succesfully erected we ventured to the pool. The pool is situated on a cliff top overlooking Milos largest beach, it is a great place to hangout.

After an hour of watching little greek kids trying to do bombs (to matts disgust) we headed into town to book our boat trip. The bookings dont start to 8pm so we had a healthy kebab dinner and waited on a bench.

Around 8.17pm the cruise we wanted to do hadnt opened its booking kiosk so we asked one of the other operators who informed us that the particular one we wanted to do wasnt running the day we wanted and infact none of them were but we could try one next to it..... (Fi says at this point for godsake matt my fingers are about to drop off! GET TO THE POINT!)

Back to matts story........so we hurried along

The booking was successful and we walked away feeling very smug with ourselves because the one that we booked went to all the places that we wanted to go and it was 20 euro cheaper.

A victory beer was in order (we have excuses for any type of beer time!)

We even splashed out and bought the 30 cent more expensive variety from the shop (they were chilled) and made our way back to the camp.

Day Two:

This morning we shared a taxi into the port with an english couple as the buses werent running until after our boat left.

Boarding the boat we chose seats at the front to try and get a good view (we would learn later that this wasnt such a good idea after being drenched).

We headed out of port on time as scheduled. As we rounded the head land the water turned from calm to very rough, needing to hold on so that we wouldnt go over board as the boat tilted to a 45 degree angle, Fi had white knuckles and a white face.

Our first stop was a small cove, the captain took boat loads of 10 people in an inflatable through a small cave into a lagoon.

We spent an hour there and then boarded the boat.

Our next stop was Kleftiko, where we spent 3 hrs swimming through the caves and had boat rides through the grottos.

We then had lunch and met some great people on our boat. An english couple that lived just up the road from us in G.G London, and a American guy who had been living in Italy for the past 3 yrs, he gave us some great tips for our Italy stint.

After lunch we made our journey home battling the feirce seas. This time we decided to sit at the back of the boat learning from our mistakes. This was a good choice as it was alot rougher on the way bach with several shipmates deciding to leave their lunch with the sea (Fi almost joined them but managed to hold on with her dwarf like sea legs).

Reaching the shore Fi kissed the ground and we threw our budget out the window and splashed out for dinner in a resteraunt, Celebrating Life! : ) Mousaka and beers all round
