Well, things are coming to an end for me here in Nepal. I left my placement and the kids two days ago and have been relaxing since then – sort of; the headline is literal. I didn’t tell my host family I was leaving until the night before and they were a bit surprised, but took it better then I expected. I had heard some horror stories from other volunteers about families sulking and crying for up to a week before the volunteer left and I didn’t want to take a chance. Of course the children knew and took it really well as they are used to volunteers coming and going. The last few days at the orphanage went really well, but I’m happy to have a change of pace. I’m flying out tomorrow afternoon and should be back in the states thirty three hours later. And just so I remember Nepal in a positive light, the airport officials will happily be taking my $25 Airport Departure Tax . . . actually, all kidding aside, I’ve really had a wonderful time in Nepal and I feel that this is due in large part to the warmth and hospitality the Nepali people show to everyone (as long as you’re not in Thamel . . .). - tanner
Oh, and I put up a few photos of my kids.
