Once again, yesterday was quite a nice day. After updating this at the internet cafe, I went down to the harbor, got a bus ticket for the beach later in the afternoon, and then sat down to a nice chocolate milkshake. Here, the chocolate milkshakes have little pieces of chocolate in them. I think that's pretty awesome. Anyway, while I was enjoying it, a funeral procession went by. It was sad, and people in the cafe shut off the music that was playing, stood up, and crossed themselves. Interesting. Anyway, then I just wandered around for a bit, and ended up buying a pair of shorts at one of those Greek handicraft shops. If anyone knows that Greek shirt that Alan wears from time to time (and everytime I see those shirts or see someone wearing one, it makes me giggle), it's from one of those places. I paid 10 euros for a very flattering, light, cool pair of shorts. Go me. I only had skirts (because, like an idiot, I left my one and only pair of shorts at home) before so it's nice to dress down a bit.
Then I did nothing for two hours. Always nice.
Then I took the bus to a beach called Agios Prokopios. A few years back it was rated as one of the best beaches in the world and wow....I can see why! It was just...*gorgeous*. Absolutely clear, calm water, all sand with no annoying rocks, perfect temperature...just perfect for swimming. The beauty just took my breath away and I wished that I had someone, anyone to share that with. But solitude on a beach is nice too. I put my towel under the partial shade of a tree, and when I wasn't swimming I would just lay there and either read or do nothing. I did this for almost 4 hours, and it was glorious. Oh, and all the hot Italian men around certainly didn't hurt either!
Came back to my hotel, took a shower, and then went and met up with Talita (the Australian) for dinner. We found a taverna up in the old market, where she had stuffed vine leaves (which were very good) and I had mussels (which had waaaaay too much garlic). Afterwards, we went down to the harbor and had cocktails. This time I had a mai tai and it was yummy! The only thing is, we apparently broke some sort of unspoken rule about where to sit. You see, there's this little road, and on the right is the building of the cafe and a few tables, and on the left is the rest of the tables. We sat right by the cafe and got dirty looks from old greek men and were not served very quickly at all. Oops. At least this time we didn't have an old Greek dude trying to sit with us.
Anyway, my cocktail was yummy, like I said, but for some reason it still made me tipsy. just one drink! What's wrong with me?? Again, though, I was a bit tired too. Then Talita and I went and visited Antonis who made fun of us because we were planning to go to bed instead of party. But, unlike everyone else, neither she nor I had spent the afternoon sleeping, so we decided we were justified in our sleepiness (and everyone knows laying on a beach for hours makes you tired anyway).
I slept well except for some drunk Americans coming in and being loud and then some cats which were...whining. It was weird. They weren't fighting, just wailing. It was annoying.
Now, I'm eating my breakfast and then taking a two hour bus ride to Apollon, which is supposed to be a nice town. And there's another beach. Awesome.
