Rain and scabies

Well, it appears that the younger kids have got scabies . . . and I'm fairly certain I picked it up as well. Luckily I caught it early and VSN is well prepared since scabies is quite common here. I'm going to take care of it tonight with some lotion and a good bed cleaning tomorrow morning. Yesterday I went on an orphanage tour with this months new volunteers (one of whom is either going to come out here today or on the 9th). It was good to get around the valley a bit and see how some of my friends are getting along at the other orphanages. I've been on my own since the beginning of the month and it has gone very well. It seems that the children have felt me out pretty well and know what I expect. On the 8th I've go to take one of our little girls back to the clinic to get another tooth pulled and some fillings, it's going to be nice to only have one child along on this trip (though I'm sure she won't enjoy it all that much). It's been getting a little cooler here lately, around 25 degrees during the day and quite a bit cooler during the night. There have been some wonderful monsoons over the past few weeks, I've never seen rain pound down like it does here. I'm looking forward to spend a night in Thamel this week for the monthly volunteer party and meeting; it's always fun to catch up with the other volunteers and get advice on anything related to volunteering in an orphanage as well as share horror stories. I'll also be sure to upload the latest photos while I'm in. We had a big party for the other volunteer on her last day and I was able to get some photos of the kids doing one of their favorite things: dancing. Alright, cheers - tanner

Next entry: No more scabies (but new photos!)
