Although sleeping in the airport in Amsterdam was not the most fun thing I have done, I survived. I have since arrived safely in Norway, and have been having the most wonderful last few days. The weather here actually is wonderful (sunshine every day, and cooler temps!). I have been around the city a lot and so far seen Vigelandsparken (a famous park with sculptures) and Akersus Fortress on the sea and walked throughout the city. Both of these I have seen when I visited 10 years ago, but of course it was like a new experience, with a few memories recalled here and there.
Maren's apartment is great and in a really central location. Today we traveled to Maren's dad's place outside the city. He and his wife made us a great dinner and we walked down to the sea for a swim after eating. I am so happy to be here and thankful to be out of the heat and out of Pilar's place for a bit! Maren hasn't even yelled at me once! And I glad to get some good, flavorful and healthy food in my system and enjoy some wonderful company. I am so thankful to have gotten the chance to see Maren twice in the past few months!
I just realized I will be home in one week from today! I am getting excited, but cannot believe how much life will change!
The most important thing I know how to say in Norwegian (I actually learned this 10 years ago, but Maren just reminded me of it!): "Takk for maten, den var god. Vi er alle mette nå. Om en tim eller to ligger den i do. (Thanks for the food, it was good. We are all full now. In an hour or two, it will be in the loo.)
I have now decided I am going to move here. And really, I think that is all that I will need to know to make it in Norway!
