up earlier then i would have liked to have been, i helped gilherme pack and he, alex, and i drove to the bus station so gilherme could go to berlin to meet some friends. after saying our goodbyes alex and i started to walk back to the car until i spoted something. at 1pm in the afternoon i saw a guy passed out in the grass in front of the bus station with his shirt pulled up over his face and his hands between his knees. but the best part isnt some random guy out cold in front of a bus station, no the best part is that he was wearing a 2002 ohio state national footbal champion t-shirt. some poor american student obviously couldnt handle all the FIFA world cup fun and had a rough night, the sheer irony is in the slogans on his shirt about strength, endurance, and the heart of a champion. after taking pictures we went to the car and drove to the swedish design superstore, IKEA. i had been wanting to see one and alex had promised to take me.
later that evening alex and i rode the metro downtown to the rathaus where she met a bunch of her polish friends at a nice outdoor restarunt on the water where we watched germany beat portugal to win 3rd in the world cup. after the game we took a short walk to a polish dance club. we were able to get a big table in the corner for about 10 of us and the polish guys immeadiatly started the discussion about wither to buy a bottle of vodka or not. in the end they opted not to and instead we drank polish beer that is both impossible to spell and pronounce. i was surprised to discover that the club soon filled up with many pretty but down to earth polish girls. ( i have been hearing good things about those eastern block countries). i had a good time discussing american football as well as soccer with the guys and dancing with the girls, at around 4am tired and completly exhausted alex and i rode the metro home.
