So the past few days have been...interesting. Keia and I spent 3 days alone as Jed left and we waited for David and Christina. We went to the beach alot and just kicked stones really. But being the travellers we are, we sometimes lose track of the date. We had recieved an email from David and Christina on Friday saying that they'd be where we are on Sunday...we thought it was weird how they kept saying Sunday because we thought it was Saturday. So the next day (Saturday) we thought we'd go to the bus depot to surprise them since we haven't seen them in 10 days...well we got there at 7:30 p.m. and by about 9:30 we were asking some questions whether they got lost or stranded somewhere. We asked a guy if there was another bus coming and he mumbled something about 10:30 so we waited till 10:45. It wasn't till the walk home that Keia looked at her watch and saw that it said Saturday. We thought it must be a mistake and we were trying to prove to ourselves that her watch was a liar and we were correct. We thought about it for about 20 minutes because it's kind of rediculous to ask someone what day it is. Finally we figured it out because we found out that we got to the island the previous Monday morning and we only knew that because we had left Athens on Sunday night...we only knew that because all of the shops were closed that day...ugh. We had a good laugh and since we didn't eat dinner because we wanted to wait for the others we went and had spagetti on the docks.
That night when we got back to the hostel I started talking to these two Engish guys who said they had bought a mo-ped off of some guy on the street for 30 Euros. I laughed because it was the biggest piece of junk ever, but perfect for cruising the streets. Anyway, they left the following morning and after some dealings, I ended up with the bike. So I spent 3 days riding around the streets with this rusted green piece of trash waking everyone up in the neighbourhood. I crashed it and slid across the pavement within 10 minutes but usually the back brake is on the right side...not the case. Now my foot is all scraped up and I can't wear anything but flip-flops and it stings to go in the water...but it's all worth it.
Today we are going back to Kastelli to hopefully get a place to stay and possibly get a job. I just sold the bike for 45 Euros which happened at the perfect time as money seems to be dwindling quickly. I'll be safe if all goes well today and we don't have to pay for housing again. Ugh...I can't complain, I wanted adventure, I'm getting it.
So back to David and Christina. We went back to the bus depot on Sunday night for the same amount of time except we stayed until all the buses we parked and all the lights were turned out. We thought there must be a mistake, our friends will be here any moment, but the man in the overalls thought differently. After believing they were likely just on a later bus that will get there around 12 we went back to the hostel. We woke up the next morning and they weren't there. They showed up a few hours later and apparently the ferry they were supposed to take was used to ship soldiers to Israel instead. You know, I'm a little disappointed we left Israel so quickly, I'm the only one who thinks this way. Anyway, we are together again and another adventure is just around the corner. Bethany will be joining the 4 of us in about 6 days! Woot toot! Alright, time to head off. Thanks to my 45 Euros, I'll be able to make it to Kastelli on a bus, not by hitch hiking...which probably would have given me better stories...but again, these others aren't just doing crazy things to have good stories, I don't understand.
Cheers
