right we have now benn through all the accliatised treks, which were interesting! unfortunately bout of altitude sickness hit few people so before we started the trek planning to try and make it to a pass but not go all the way around the circuit!! then afer starting out up the gorge for two hours it was decided that five people needed to turn back as jack hammet and will stockdale were feeling the altitude and could not cope with a further 3 or 4 hours of heavy trekking some people went back with them. eventually after passing many perfectly nice closer campsites we met up with our mule drivers (except for philip who had to carry his big heavy rucksack for gold d of e) and set up camp in the closing dusk and the lowering temperatures!!! the people nearby looked very smug siting sipping coco in their tents! after a meal of beef chili and chicken supreme we went to bed under a fantasic night sky!! the next day was an early start as we planned to reach the punta union (the pass) which was over 13km away and almost 1km above us! thats ok except for the fact tha the trip was mainly flat for the first 2/3 then its the steepest hill ever! we aimed top turn back at 1.30pm unless we were very close and at 12.30 some more people could not go on due to exahustion and altitude sickness! those 5 went down to the nearby campsite and chilled until the mad group returned! unfotunatey the mad roup were just to far away, even continung at a molmar´s pace, they could not quite reach the pas (4750) stopping just 200m short of it. the group returned with high spirits nonetheless and began the long haul back to camp! mr halls sick group began first and the mad group staggered in half an hour later to some of the best food ever! trust me! everyone slept well feeling a sense of accomplishment but everyone wanted the other group with jack to come back and see some of the views. the next day the mule drivers arrived and gathered the kit and big bags (except philip who still had to take his big back with him every where, but was defintiely sore after going at robs pace for some time up towards the pass!!) and after a quick descent a tired group strolled back to the other group and exchanged storeis and pictures!! lets say trish now seems to be one of the lads!! what have they done to her...
now the team have just had two rest days and are preparing to move out to their project work while stoping at the beach for two days!! now the bags are heavy with presents for you!
mr nairne the reason the speling is atrocious is tha the keyboards are not very good andf most of them are typos!!! nevermind!
