Woah! We have gotten to see some pretty amazing places. We had a few days off at the end of our time in Jordan so we decided to go to Petra, and have the Wadi Rum experience, which is living out in the desert for a day.
The adventures started off in Petra. It was incredible!!!!! We stayed at this amazing little hotel called the Valentine in. Everything was red, and white, and pepto bismol pink. There were lights and rugs on the walls.. it was pretty intense, but I loved it ;) We got to Petra and you walk through these gigantic, beautifully stunning rocks. It's kind of like walking through a long cavern to actually get to petra. Finally after awhile of walking we saw it... the corner of the treasury. As we emerged into the opening we saw it in full view, and it struck me speechless. For something so enormous, and so beautiful to be carved out of stone. It was too cool... We spent the afternoon walking around Petra. We made it to the Montestary and Geoff and Justin climbed on top. At one point this little boy, maybe 7 years old rides up on a donkey. Now.... he was too short to get off the donkey so he had to ride up to a bench and climb off onto the bench. He came over and asked Jenn, Josie, and I to take a picture of the donkey, but we politley declined. We asked him what the donkey's name was and he thought for a second and said "...Chuck!" and then we asked him his name and he told us it was Muhammad. So from then on, it was the adventures of Chuck and Muhummad. He galloped off on his little donkey, and we went about our day.
The next day we left for Wadi Rum. I decided that the desert is hot, and desolate, but the most photogenic place on earth. It's just gorgeous! We spent the afternoon driving around the desert in a 4x4 and a bedouin tribal man was our guide and showed us around. At night we were taken to a bedouin camp to spend the night in the middle of the desert. We climbed on some rocks to watch the most beautiful sunset of my life, and then I got to play soccer in the desert! It was a pretty amazing experience. God is SO good.
