Hiya all, just a quick update to let you know that nothing particularly interesting has been happening in our lives in this tepid English summer... Jess is working as a nanny for a young couple not far from us who have two kids (3 years old and 8 weeks) and quite frankly too much money to spend! The hours are good, the pays decent and the kids are apparently gems so Jess is pretty content to stay there for the duration of her visa.
Recently we had a weekend in Brighton on the south coast. Nice town that reminds me equally of St Kilda and Fitzroy with great shopping and restaurants.... fairly average beach though. About a month ago it was Jess' 25th birthday. We were a bit skint at the time so we had to make do with a small gathering with a cheap cake from Marks&Spencers and a few bottles of bubbly... nice night. I bought her a leopard skinned zippo (I know that sound awfully cheesy but it is exactly what she wanted) and some poi's (fire twirling thingies), and of course some overpriced roses again from M&S'.
No travel plans set in cement at the mo although we are hoping to have short trips to Oxford, Edinburgh (for the Military Tattoo) and Leeds in the next month or so, and Jess goes to Portugal with her employers pretty soon for a week of paid holiday. In around Sept were going to try and visit our friend Del on Santorini in the Greek Islands and we want to do Egypt and Jordan in November. All of this of course is subject to change so we will have to wait and see what happens. In June i had planned to go to the Download festival and to the Cheese-rolling festival in Gloucester but time and financial constraints again got in the way which shows that plans can change very quickly.
The last month or so during the world cup has been huge in England! Although none of them cared about anyone except for the English team nad its rediculous how bias they were. I watched all of the Aus games and every Aussie in town really got into it all. Better luck next time I suppose... Well thats it for the mo. The weather is holding up and the days are still pretty long so I think there's a bit of summer left to enjoy yet!
