Firstly i have to confess that the awesome pun in the title was not thought of by myself, but a certain Miss Sugden. Anyway, Yep, that's right, today we swan with Nurse sharks (approx 10ft long) and thankfully they had been fed so we survived with all limbs intact (thank god i hear football fans worldwide exclaim!!) and they were also the only Nurses we saw today, no shark nibbles to report!!! We also swam with numerous fish and some sting-rays, which we then stroked, pretty cool!!
We are currently on an Island called Ambergris Caye, an hour by Taxi boat off the coast of Belize. Just three miles off Ambergris Caye coast line is the 2nd biggest barrier reef in the world, and it's a huge sanctuary for sharks, where we had our experiences. As i mentioned, thankfully they are relatively tame as they are fed by humans meaning there is no risk of being eaten!!!! Pretty hairy experience snorkeling around these monsters, but well worth it!
So, just to give u a brief update we spent several days in the Yucatan, visiting Mayen Ruins such as "Itchy Chicken" (or, Chichen Itza as everyone else calls it) and swimming in Cenotes, which are natural made huge sink holes (caves) with crystal clear waters. We then headed to the town of Chetumal, on the Belize border. It was here where we missed our planned bus to Belize, to watch England go into extra time against "The Waiters XI" (aka: Portugal), which we wouldn't have been too bothered about if they had won, but thanks to "Juan Pedro Don Foreigner" (aka: A dodgy Argie Ref) he firstly sent Roonster off then amazed us with every decision he took. Then Mr Erikson continued to amaze us by getting a clumper of a centre back to take a penalty!!! Has Sven really left, oh what a pity!!!!! Anyway, we eventually made it to Belize City which has got to be the grottiest hole we have had the misfortune to arrive in, and the next day made a very swift exit to the beautiful beach areas of Ambergris Bay. So its here we've had sun, sand, surf & shark diving, . . . . . .We miss work SOOOOOooooo much!!!!
