Sunday Morning Ashley dragged my butt out of bed at 6am! EW! We got up and faught with the shower, it decided one minute to scald us, and the next to ice us! We headed out to the tube from Pam and Keiths, and hopped on. The tube on weekends is soo frusterating because that is when they do repairs and such, so we had to hop on one tube, and then transfer to another, when normally we could have stayed on one. However, we made it to the train station with lots of time to spare. Grabbed a bagel and sat waiting to find out which platform we needed to be at. Lili and Chris - two fellow students, met us at the trainstation and came with us. We arrived in Salsbury and caught the tour bus that took us out to Stonehenge. The lady told us a brief history of the town and the church which was beautiful. Stonehenge was really cool! It wasn't as big as it appears to be on tv and such, but even still it is much larger than a normal piece of rock! We did a tour around it, unfortuently you can't go up in the middle of it or anything, but it was awesome enough just being there.! We were there for about 45 minutes. In the fields you could see small mounds which were mounds that they buried people in. At one time they were white from the chalk underneath the soil. Poppies as well were all over the fields, but none near where we were, or i would have grabbed one! We headed back into the town of Salisbury where Ashley, Lili, Chris and I hopped off the bus and had some lunch at a small pub, and then walked over to Salisbury Cathedral. The Cathedral is HUGE! There is a massive 400ft, tower on it, and there is 362 stairs to get up to it. We just did a tour of the main area. All along the floors and along the sides are tombs in which people are buried in. Some of them are just in the floor with a tombstone rock ontop with their name engraved and such, others which were very important people such as bishops and clergy have tombs with statues laying ontop, very elaborate. I felt really bad walking on the tombs that were in the floor, the thought that i was walking on someone's remains was kinda eerie. The organ was playing as well, which definately set the mood for the church. The organ pipes were huge! The whole church itself was soo beautiful! It's really hard to describe it, it's architecture and stained glass windows and all the tombs are beautiful. It was really awesome to see! So glad we went!
To top it off, it was my first train ride too! Yes i am a deprived child!
We're absolutely beat tonight, so it'll be an early bedtime! Classes in the am! ew!
