Okay so I am now in a town called Huaraz, which is a wicked little town, totally englufed in perfect icecapped mountains. The area has 50 peaks over 5000m, which to put in perspective (I think this is correct) outside of the alps Europe has none! We arrived by bus at 6am so the sun was just rizing over the mountains and catching the edge of the snow and refecting off it making it shine, beautiful. I met a peruvian guy on the bus there, who speaks perfect english cos he's studying in the states at the moment. We checked into a hostel, dumped our stuff, headed out for breakfast and then back to watch the england game. I had great intensions of beinbg a good patriotic brit and supporting the team and them promptly fell asleep infront of the TV - the hostel beds are really comfey!! We woke up intime for the penatlies and my negative instincts told me that england would lose and so they did, so comiserations to anyone who is sad, I would have liked them to win, but hey, i'm in a beautiful place, I don't really care to be honest (sorry). Got up after the game and decided the plan of action was beer, pub, brazil/france game, so that is exactly what we did! expecpt after the first pint we substituted beer for sangria, can still taste it now!! Afternoon was plan what to do time and ooh such exciting plans. Tomorrow am going absailing down waterfalls, looks great and the next day am gonna scale a vertical ice cliff with like icepicks and everything, very exciting - just hope i really have got over my fear of heights! So am meant to be going out tonight, but will try and be sensible, do not think absailing with a hangover will be fun!
Going back in town, met a lovely danish/english couple in Vilcababmba who i crossed the boarder with and went as far Truillyo (that is so spelt wrong!) with but there was only one space left n the bus i got so they will be arriving here tomorrow morning which will be cool. They stayed last night on the coast and i went down there for a few hours with them before my bus. It was fantastic, really good surfers on the beach at sunset (although it was more like sun dissapearing behind clouds, but still nice) and then a big food place on the beach, with fantastic chicken kababs and these dougnut typ things that were fantastic, nice atmosphere and, although i think it is often quite full of foreigners when we were there eating food we were the only ones which was great.
Have had so many people telling me bad things about Peru and the people being unfriendly and all that, but so far and finding it fantastic. WIll let you all know how my adventure activities go.
