Tatajuba Dune Buggy Day Trip

2002-12-30, Jericoacoara, Brazil

Previous | All | Next

Approximately 60 km dune ride away, Tatajuba is a primitive fishermen’s village. The original village was completely covered by dunes. It was then reconstructed by the fishermen the river’s opposite bank. Because of this it is sometimes called “Nova”(New) Tatajuba. There are enormous sand dunes, some in the process of crystallization, which keeps them from being shifted by the wind. To get there by buggy you have to cross the mouth of the Guriú river on a wooden raftj, which was quite the adventure at high tide.
